Best Experience During Field Experience
The best experience during my internship would have to be when I taught my class about alliteration. This was the third lesson that I had taught, so I had some experience teaching but I was still not sure how it would go. When it was time for me to start, the class was really excited right away because it’s a fun subject. First, I explained what alliteration is by using the example “Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers” and they were all amazed at how fast I could say it. Next, I read them a poem with a lot of examples of alliteration. After that they had to fill out a worksheet by themselves and write their own sentences using alliteration. It was really interesting to see everything that they wrote. The best part of the lesson though was when they worked in groups to create an entire story using alliteration. The stories turned out to be very funny and they had a lot of fun writing them. As I was walking around the room to see what they were writing they were so enthusiastic about their work. Being a high school student, you just don’t students like that every day. After my lesson was done Mrs. Darwin and Mrs. Davis, the assistant teacher, both told me they thought I did an excellent job. They really made me feel good when they said that. After that day I really wanted to teach more and more. Also, when I walked in two days later a lot of the students seemed like they were really excited to see me. That day really established my relationship with the kids and that was really important to me. I don’t think I will ever forget that day because it was my first really good teaching experience.
